David Hanna
While this lifestyle and lack of concern for my soul continued on into my married life, I was still searching for something, but didn’t know what. But glory be to God, as a young adult of 30 years, the Holy Spirit convinced me of my lostness, and then convicted me that I needed a savior, Jesus. He turned my life around, giving me a new name. At the age of 33, God called me into the ministry. After enrolling in New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, I began my first pastorate at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Coushatta, Louisiana. Since that time, I completed my education at Seminary and pastored several other churches along the way. While I have met some wonderful people in the churches in which I have served, God is now calling me to full-time evangelism and I have chosen to be obedient to His call.
Has life been perfect from the day God saved me? No, it hasn’t. I’m still a sinner, but a forgiven sinner. I’m certainly not proud of my sinful past, but I believe God has called me to share my past with others who may be leading a similar lifestyle—one that leads to Hell. Even though I strive daily to be more like Christ, I’ll never even be close to being perfect this side of heaven. But if God can use my story to bring others to Him, I want to share what God has done in my life.
Although I’m no longer a “Hurricane” in the old sense of the name, I’ve chosen to use the hurricane symbol for my ministry to remind me what God has done in my life and what He can do for anyone that asks.
